Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho face off at Wembley this evening as Chelsea and Manchester United go head to head for FA Cup glory.
With the Premier League season over, the FA Cup represents the last – and only – remaining chance of silverware for both clubs. United finished second but disappointed in Europe, while Chelsea will play in the Europa League next season after missing out on Champions League qualification with a fifth-placed finish.
Mourinho would love to win a trophy at the national stadium against his former club, while Conte could be looking to sign off in style with Italian increasingly likely to leave the west London club this summer.
New Delhi: It’s the final showdown tonight, as English football’s two of the biggest clubs Manchester United and Chelsea are set to battle it out in hopes of clinching the FA Cup at the famous Wembley stadium. Both the teams will be eager to wrap up their season with the game’s final available silverware.
United, having previously won the coveted tournament 12 times, will be looking to book their record-equalling 13th win, which will put them level with Arsenal, the only club in the tournament’s history to have won the trophy for the maximum number of times. The Red Devils, who had knocked Spurs out of the tournament have not had a spectacular season so far and Jose Mourinho’s side might want to sign off the season on a high note, with another silverware in their cabinet.
The Blues defeated Southampton in the semifinals and booked their berth in the finals due to be held at England’s famous House of Football. Having lost the Cup to their London-based rivals Arsenal last season, chances are they will put up a fierce competition to quench their thirst for a win, this time.
